Dr. Sarkhel is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in Mental Health services. He is on the Specialist Register of General Medical Council and member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Dr. Sarkhel specialises in Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry and Liaison Psychiatry.
Career path:
Dr. Sarkhel had post graduate basic training in Psychiatry in England in a Psychiatric Training Scheme recognised by The Royal College Of Psychiatrists. During his basic training he had experience in Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Learning Disability, Forensic Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Substance Abuse.
He completed MRCPsych examination and became a member of The Royal College Of Psychiatrists. Dr. Sarkhel then joined Higher Specialist Training in Charing Cross scheme at London accredited by The Royal College Of Psychiatrists. During his higher training he also worked as a clinical teaching fellow for undergraduate medical students in Imperial College, London. After completion of this training he was awarded Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) by PMETB and GMC. He is on Specialist Register of General Medical Council (GMC) for Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry and Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Sarkhel is currently working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in NHS and has Private Practice. He has published a number of research articles in peer reviewed journals. He is currently an exmainer for MRCPsych for The Royal College Of Psychiatrists.
Dr. Sarkhel has a got particular interest in Stress related disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Diosrder (PTSD), Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). He has strong emphasis on Evidence Based Practice.
Dr. Sarkhel is trained in Medical Acupuncture which he uses as an adjunctive treatment for various Psychiatric Disorders and Chronic Pain.
